Oregon's Central Coast Vacation treasure | home
About Us
A little more than 3 years ago, one of the couples who own Pacific Escape found the Central Coast of Oregon quite by accident. While engaging in the wine trade just Northeast in the Willamette Valley, a curious day trip led to a fabulous discovery. Well acquainted with the California coast, Florida and the Caribbean, the Pacific Ocean of the Northwest was new and breathtaking. As one of their adult children said, "this is no wimpy ocean". Huge surf, coming into a coast laced with pine and other dense forests can only cause amazement. In addition, numerous volcanic rock formations jut-up just off the coastline, creating Mother Nature's art.
Our time at the coast has been outstanding. The local art, cuisine, ocean and costal mountains leave us wishing for more. Because we all reside in the Chicago area, and commute to the coast, we decided to share our home with those who appreciate the upper level of "getting away". The home is located in Lincoln City, on the ocean, about 100 feet above the beach. The view is breath-taking from our deck, especially if you are sitting in the hot-tub, enjoying a glass of Oregon pinot noir, or looking out any of the many large windows. We love all seasons, although they vary considerably. The summer is typically warm but never too hot due to the constant ocean winds. The winters are cool, with lots of moisture and huge seas. Until you see a breaking 20 foot wave, you will not appreciate the sheer force and beauty. Sleeping to the sounds of waves crashing can't be beat. Two of the three bedrooms have large windows facing the beach.
We decorated the home to reflect two things. Local themes and quality relaxation. The furnishings are plush with lots of leather. Our choice in art work is intended to stimulate interest and to promote a relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen with large windows facing the ocean contains the basics to do all the cooking you may desire. (we find that going out happens a lot too because of the first class restaurants in the area showcasing local seafood) One of the three bathrooms is equipped with a whirlpool tub. The living room has a 61" plasma TV with cable service and DVD. We also have a growing library of DVD's and books in the upstairs library area for our guests enjoyment as well as high-speed internet.
Probably the most noteworthy aspect of our home to us is the sunsets. (this picture taken by one of us February 2006 while in the hot tub)
